ABM NeuroMovement® : Better Movement for Adults, New Possibilities for Children With Special Needs
Movement is the language of the brain. When it becomes limited-through injury, aging, or developmental challenges-it affects how we feel, think, and connect. ABM Neuromovement helps the brain create new possibilities through gentle, intelligent movement.
Developed by Anat Baniel and rooted in neuroplasticity (the brain's ability to form new connections), this approach builds on The Feldenkrais Method. It is not a traditional exercise or "fixing." Instead, it uses guided movements and the Nine Essentials to give the brain richer information so it can reorganize itself more effectively.
For Adults: Creating Real Changes in Movement
Adults often turn to ABM NeuroMovement® for chronic pain, stiffness, recovery after injury or stroke, or simply to move with greater ease and vitality. High performers also use it to refine skills. Through hands-on lessons or guided movement sequences, the brain notices differences it previously ignored. Habitual tension eases, coordination improves and movement becomes freer and less effortful. Many people report reduced pain, better balance, increased flexibility, and a renewed sense of agency in their bodies.
For Children With Special Needs
The method is especially valued by families of children with autism spectrum disorder and cerebral palsy. Rather than focusing only on muscles or forcing specific skills, it works with the child's brain, providing varied sensory-motor experiences that support learning and reorganization.
In cerebral palsy, children often develop softer muscle tone, better head and trunk control, new spontaneous movements, and greater willingness to move with the lessons. Cognitive and emotional gains frequently appear alongside physical ones.
For children with autism, many of whom face motor and sensory challenges, gentle, responsive movement helps the brain make better sense of information. Families commonly notice improvements in eye contact, responsiveness, self-regulation, social engagement, play and overall calm-along with motor gains.
ABM NeuroMovement® does not replace medical care or other therapies. What it offers is a gentle way to support the brain's natural capacity for change-at any age.
When we help the brain upgrade its movement language, new possibilities often open up.
